Emergency Repairs FAQs

At InstaChill, we specialise in the installation and repair of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units as well as cool rooms. We have years of experience dealing with refrigeration and air conditioning units in restaurants, supermarkets, shops and more.

Commercial refrigeration: This refers to the cold storage equipment used in a commercial setting, such as the large, reach-in refrigerators and freezers you find in supermarkets, grocery stores, convenience stores, restaurants and commercial kitchens. They operate on a much larger scale and differ widely from domestic refrigeration.

Cool rooms & freezer rooms: These are large rooms kept at a low temperature (usually below room temperature) to store perishable goods. They often have sealed doors to keep the cool air in and are most commonly found in restaurants and fast-food restaurants.

Commercial air conditioning: These systems are used in a wide range of commercial properties to regulate room temperature (via heating, cooling and dehumidifying), including warehouses and offices and retail.

At InstaChill, we guarantee quick call-out times for all air conditioner and refrigeration repairs. No matter what time of day or night your unit breaks down on the Gold Coast or the Tweed Region, if you need an emergency repair, we’ll be there. Have peace of mind that business downtime will be kept to a minimum, reducing the need to close your business or throw away spoiled products.

Please note: waiting times for call-outs can vary depending on the availability of our team members, but we are committed to reaching you as quickly as we can. We will ensure open communication with you throughout so you know exactly when we’ll be arriving.

If you work in the food industry, your refrigeration system will be an integral part of your business. To avoid costly downtime for your business, it’s important to know the signs which suggest you may need a new replacement system. The most common are:

  • Frost build-up – if frost is regularly building up in your refrigerator, it means it’s not cooling properly. This can be managed through regular maintenance, but if you find yourself having to defrost your unit a lot, it may be time to invest in a new system.
  • Food is spoiling quickly – your food shouldn’t be spoiling before its use-by date if it’s refrigerated properly. If this is becoming a regular occurrence, it’s a sign your refrigerator is no longer doing its job correctly.
  • Water puddles around the refrigerator – there are some simple reasons why this may be happening, so check your evaporator pan, the drainage hose and the gasket for any signs of damage. If you can spot any obvious causes, the problem may be the unit itself.
  • The refrigerator is too loud – although commercial refrigerators are much louder than domestic ones, if you start hearing a clicking noise that is different to the normal hum, this could mean that significant repairs may be needed- or potentially a full replacement.
  • The system is old – a well-maintained system should last between 10-17 years, so if you’re within this range and experiencing some of the issues above, it’s a sign your refrigerator has likely reached the end of its life.
